Do you wrinkle your nose when you get a whiff of your dog or cat’s breath? Bad breath in our pets is more than just a nuisance, it’s a sign of dental disease and is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to their dental health. Unfortunately this is an aspect of our pet’s well-being that is all too often overlooked, but imagine how your mouth would feel (and smell!) if you never brushed your teeth! 85% of cats and dogs over 1 year of age are affected by dental disease. Dental disease may lead to other systemic problems when bacteria in the mouth enter the bloodstream and travel to other parts of the body. Signs of dental disease include:
- Halitosis (bad breath)
- Yellow or brown tartar on the teeth
- Inflamed/swollen or bleeding gums
- Pawing or rubbing the nose or mouth
- Loose teeth or tooth loss
- Drooling, difficulty chewing, decreased appetite
- Loss of weight and muscle mass
- Inactivity, less interaction with the family
To promote the importance of dental health in our pets, February and March are Dental Health Months at our hospital. Receive 15% off the dental cleaning and associated extractions for dogs and cats. Our dental procedures are done under general anesthesia and include intravenous fluids, dental x-rays and a home care dental e-mail with Before & After photos of your pet’s mouth. Your pet will go home with a dental goodie bag that includes a free toothbrush, dental chew, and bag of Hill’s T/D food.

Promotion Terms & Conditions: This promotion can only be applied to pets that have been examined by one of our veterinarians in the last 12 months. If we have not seen your pet in the last 12 months, a full comprehensive exam by a veterinarian will be required to determine the grade of dental disease. A treatment plan tailored to your pet with the estimated cost of the procedure will be provided at this time. Blood work within the last 12 months will be mandatory for pets over 9 years of age to check their organ function and ability to metabolize the anesthetic. This promotion does not apply to pre-anesthetic blood work, IV fluids, dental x-rays, injectable medications or dispensed medications to take home.
