Locum Veterinarian
Dr. Whitehead has lived most of her life in the Canadian Prairies. Growing up in Winnipeg, she completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Manitoba. She majored in microbiology and zoology and graduated with honours. During her post-graduate education, she supplemented her knowledge and experience by working in small and large animal clinics on a part-time basis and during school breaks. Heather was then accepted into the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatchewan, where she obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Whitehead excelled during her school years at WCVM and graduated in April 2013.
Excited for the future and to begin her career, she decided to move to Vancouver to explore her opportunities and to be closer to her family. Dr. Whitehead is thrilled about being able to work and live in Vancouver after moving here with her partner Roshan and cat Taz in May 2013.
Being close to the mountains and ocean is the best scenario that she could imagine. When not in the hospital, she can be found travelling and experiencing new cultures, surfing, scuba diving, kayaking, in-line skating and swimming.
Dr. Whitehead thoroughly enjoys practicing veterinary medicine and has particular interests in neurology, dermatology and surgery. She joined the Eagle Ridge Animal and Bird Hospital team in September 2016 and feels fortunate to work with such a compassionate hardworking team of individuals that upholds the high standards of an AHHA-accredited animal hospital.
